Pattern Formation: Swimming in Retinoic Acid
نویسندگان
چکیده
The metabolite retinoic acid has been implicated as a key player during anterior-posterior patterning in vertebrate embryos. Recent studies in zebrafish extend this model by demonstrating the influence of retinoic acid on endoderm regionalization.

The effect of Fibroblast Growth Factor-2(FGF-2) and retinoic acid on differentiation of mouse embryonic stem cells into neural cells
Introduction: Embryonic Stem (ES) cells as pluripotent cells derived from the inner cell mass of blastula can differentiate to neural cells in vitro and this property is valuable in studies of neurogenesis and in the generation of donor cells for transplantation. In this regard, the propose of this research, was the study of the role of two important factors in the development of neural syst...

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an appropriate medium for in vitro maturation (IVM) of immature mouse oocytes. Materials and Methods: Germinal vesicle of female NMRI mouse oocytes (6-8 weeks old) were collected from ovaries and cultured in maturation medium MEM-a, supplemented with: 100 mlIU/ml rFSH+7.5 IU/ml hCG+5% FCS (Control group) and 2mM all- trans retinoic acid (t-RA) ...

Retinoic acid (RA) plays key roles in pattern formation along the major body axis and vertebrate limb formation. Exposure to excess retinoic acid in utero generates congenital malformations in craniofacial , limbs and ax...
متن کاملCo-administration of retinoic acid and atorvastatin mitigates high-fat diet induced renal damage in rats
Obesity causes many problems such as cardiovascular and chronic kidney diseases. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of retinoic acid and atorvastatin co-administration in kidneys protection against high-fat diet induced damage. Twenty-five male Wistar rats (200.00 ± 20.00 g) were divided into five groups: 1) Control (standard diet), 2) High-fat diet (cholesterol 1.00%, 75 days),...
متن کاملRetinoic acid and chick limb bud development.
The chick limb bud is a powerful experimental system in which to study pattern formation in vertebrate embryos. Exogenously applied retinoic acid, a vitamin A derivative, can bring about changes in pattern and, on several grounds, is a good candidate for an endogenous morphogen. As such, the local concentration of retinoic acid might provide cells with information about their position in relati...
